What is the Difference between a dry and wet suit?

divers helmet

The main difference between a drysuit and a wetsuit is the amount of water allowed to enter the suit. The choice between a wetsuit and a drysuit is ultimately up to you. Ask yourself questions such as how long you will be in the water and how cold it gets.

Goretex dry suits

A key difference between Gore-Tex dry suits and wetsuits is the fabric. Non-GoreTex dry suit fabrics don't breathe well, aren't as durable and provide less comfort. New dry suit fabrics are available, including waterproof and breathable fabric. Kokatat, for example, designed a dry suit made of a durable, yet breathable Gore-Tex fabric. Kokatat's suits are the first to have been developed and put on the market.

Trilaminate dry suits

The primary difference between wet suit and trilaminate-dry suits is the outer shell material. Trilaminate suits are waterproof but lack insulation. They are also lightweight. Trilaminate suits are more flexible than trilaminate and must be correctly fitted. This article will provide information on the main differences between wet and trilaminate suits as well as tips on how to choose which one is best for you.

Hydrus 3L fabric dry suits

The Kokatat Hydrus 3L is the updated version of the T3 Swift Entry, and is made from a water-resistant, breathable, three-layer fabric. The tough nylon outer layer and the polyurethane microporous, proprietary inner coating move water vapour away from your body while the soft, knit polyester inner layer feels great against your skin. This drysuit features tough latex necks, wrists, and ankle seals to keep water out.

Suits of IR

When comparing the benefits of a wet suit versus a drysuit, it is important to remember that they are both waterproof and watertight, which makes them more effective at keeping you dry. In addition to keeping you warm, dry suits also prevent water from transferring to the body. Additionally, dry suits often have purge valves. Aircrews, for example, often use dry suits.
